TINIPAK RIVER & CAVE IN DARAITAN
TANAY, RIZAL PHILIPPINES
A hidden paradise in Tanay soon to be discovered.
Actually, Tinipak River was awarded as the cleanest inland body of water in Region IV. Well for our group, we will just be having a day trip so no camping since this is just a spur of the moment type of trip.
LET ME SHARE MY EXPERIENCE
TRAVEL TO DARAITAN TANAY, RIZAL
AND THE PROPOSAL PLAN FOR DARAITAN SERVICE CAMP
My friend who have been at Daraitan, told me once that the jeepney station going to Tanay is located at Shaw Boulevard, across the side of Starmall. He paid around Php53 and wait until the jeep is full. And if you want to leave immediately, you can just picked up passengers along the way. And have a fast trip (around 1.5 hrs) going to Tanay Public Market. Via Antipolo City. A fast jeepney ride = strong cold wind blowing. You can enjoy the overlooking Manila view along the way, Antipolo part, during sunrise.
It depends from where you will be coming from and if you have your own transport or will be commuting.
For the commuters:
If you are coming from the Northern and Western Sectors you either converge in Cubao terminal in Araneta Center or in Kanto Katipunan-Aurora Blvd. where you can take the Cogeo bound jeepneys. In Cogeo Gate 2, take the jeepneys going to Sampaloc, Tanay. This route will travel the Marcos Highway which becomes the Marikina-Infanta Highway.
If you are coming from the Eastern and Southern Sectors, you can converge at the Star Mall in EDSA Crossing or at the Cainta Junction or at the Tikling-Ortigas Extension roundabout or at the Manila East Road Taytay Market Junction where you can take the jeepneys going to Tanay Market. This travel route takes the Manila East Road. There you can take the Daraitan jeepney which unfortunately departs at 1 and 4pm or take the jeepneys going to Sampaloc crossing.
We're from Antipolo near YNARES SPORT COMPEX so apparently the most convenient route to take is from GATE 2 MARCOS HIGHWAY. Most of the blogs I read took the ride from Shaw Boulevard.
We left Ynares Sport Complex, Antipolo City around 7am with my son Jefferson S. Villamor and my Fraternal Brother in Alpha Phi Omega, Jason Reyes who owned our ride (Kia Urvan)
Along the road we enjoyed the long and widing road, way to Tanay via Marcos Highway..
40min. drive. We reach and have our stop-over at PASEO RIZAL RESTAURANT to take our breakfast.
MY SON JEFFERSON S. VILLAMOR II
We stay at Paseo Rizal almost half hour finishig our quicky breakfast meal. Then ON ROAD again, Our way to DARAITAN.

ROUGH ROAD TO DARAITAN
After leaving the highway, we went up in a major rough road.
First timer? You will got nervous throughout the trip as I couldn’t believe how the van of Bro. Jason Reyes could make it in such a very rough road. Thank kachap!
But during visit the site, for the Medical and Dental Service with the chairman of DARAITAN SERVICE CAMP, Past National President Bro. Chato Marinas driving his 4X4 Pajero, I can't feel the raugh of the road.. With us is the Alumni President of APO-Antipolo Bro. Antonio "Tony" Bertol III,and Bro. Carlo Tambologan of Epsilon a mountaineering direct from singapore who will assist us during the Camping. Ang the Former RDD for Region-4 Bro. This old school building will be devided in two.. For Dental use and Pharmacy. Also we'll provide a clean Comfort room to be use by volunteers.
After the inspection of site for Med. Dental Service
we're now going to the Bario of Daraitan to check the site were we will have our camping and fellowship and also to spend the night.
Again another 5min. of fun adventure at raugh road.. going to the main Barrio of Daraitan..
The River Crossing.
When I'm with my son that was almost dry summer, this river gets insanely crowded and is peppered with cottages, broke up throughout the riverside and in the shallow part of the river which are functioned by the locals.
BRIDGE FOR ALL TYPE OF LAND VEHICLES
This rainy season, the bridge are removed by the native. This river is getting up during rainy season. And the best way to cross the river are riding to the boat.
The boat fare is Php50/person (one way)
4X4? The riverbed of Daraitan is mostly river stones and gravel so there is some traction but it is a FLOWING river so it could push your vehicle. The river crossing is not that deep unless it has been raining and it would only be for those going to the campsite. The service site is BEFORE the river so please do not be discouraged. Also, in case you will be crossing, we will be using the ARMY TRUCK instead.
MAIN BARRIO OF DARAITAN WHERE THE BARANGAY HALL LOCATED
It is Barangay regulation, that all who are going to Mt. Daraitan and Tinipak River are required to visit and register individual as visitor and also to hire a trained tour guide. Guide fee is P500 1 guide for 10 person. Registration fee is P20
To all volunteers and participants of Daraitan Service Camp, The Over All Chairman have an spacial arrangement to the barangay captain, so we are not oblide to visit the barangay hall just to registered.. Maybe we can register as one group during the Med. Dental Service

DARAITAN SERVICE CAMP
CAMP RULES
Obey Camp Rules.
They were made not just to enforce order but for your and everyone else’s protection.
Lawful orders and decisions by camp officials are deemed part of these rules.
All national and local laws and ordinances as well as the laws and rules of our fraternity are deemed incorporated in these rules.
RESPECT THE PEOPLE AND THE ENVIRONMENT
1. Each and everyone of us is an embodiment of Alpha Phi Omega. Yours is the face by which people you meet here will come to know and remember your chapter, your association, OUR fraternity. Wherever and whenever you can: Do a good turn daily.
2. Remember that we are just visitors. Our stay here is merely temporary whereas the inhabitants will continue to live and work here. Respect their rules and be fair in all your dealings with them.
3. Ensure the cleanliness of your surroundings. Do not throw trash just anywhere and most especially, do not throw trash in the rivers. We will clean up after every activity and we will clean up before we depart. We will bring our trash with us. If possible, make this a better place than when we found it
SECURITY AND RISK MANAGEMENT
4. The first in all these is to do no harm. Be conscious that negligent or willful misbehavior can expose yourself and others to risk. Should anyone get hurt, it will, at the very least, spoil the fun for everyone. Depending on the severity of the incident, we may need to pull everyone out.
5. Every trip has its own risks, more so when we move in large number, when we venture into unfamiliar surroundings, when we interact with strangers, when we are deprived quick access to facilities and conveniences of urban settings. Refrain from behavior that will unnecessarily increase those risks. Voice out your concern against anyone who may be engaged in reckless behavior.
6. Know the camp procedures and organization posted in the Main Dining Area. This will help you know what to do and who to approach in case you need assistance.
7. Make sure you register. Submit your accomplished Personal Information Sheet.
8. Everyone must have a role and perform it to the best of their ability. If you do not yet have a role, approach the Volunteer Coordinating Committee and ask to be assigned a committee and/or specific duties. Once assigned, report immediately to your committee chair for briefing and assignment of tasks.
9. The above said, you can go beyond your tasks and help out brothers who are having difficulties in carrying their load. Some committees have heavier load than others especially those carrying supplies and equipment for general use.
10. Consult the advisory on packing. You may not realize that this is a risk issue but it can be. The more stuff you bring the heavier the load, the harder to navigate through the terrain and the more precaution you need to observe to avoid loss or damage.
11. Inform your group if you or anyone in your group has a disability or condition that would require special attention or would disqualify participation in any activity.
12. Own up if you have done something that may endanger anyone, including yourself. This will allow camp management to respond to the situation in an adequate and timely manner to neutralize or minimize the risk.
13. Use only the prescribed path, camping ground and common facilities. Should you need to divert or digress, inform camp management and secure approval.
14. Participate in group activities as much as possible. You will have your private time to commune with nature and your inner self when our marshalls are able to monitor your whereabouts and their attention is not otherwise preoccupied with group activities.
15. Observe rules of civility when and if you must argue. There is a time and place for resolving issues, we don’t have to solve the perceived ills of the world, our fraternity or your juvenile or midlife crisis in this overnight camping activity.
16. Cognizant of the above, the camp and group officials will employ summary justice in resolving discipline issues or disputes. Each side will state their respective positions and the officer will try to forge a compromise. Whether or not a compromise is reached, the official must decide and his decision will be followed. Appeal from a group or committee official decision is to camp management whose decision will be final.
17. Anyone who deliberately violates camp rules will be dealt with disciplinary action or be excluded from activities or expelled from the camp without prejudice to any action that may be pursued in accordance with national laws, local ordinances and the laws and rules of the fraternity
